Kezzie Apps visit with a "Be the best you can be" message

Kezzie Apps talking to the students.

On Friday 5th March Kezzie Apps from the St George Illawarra Dragons NRLW Team, (as well as also being a Bega Roosters junior), came to launch the "Be The Best You Can Be" program at Quaama Public School.

The program aims to encourage students to make positive choices around health, education and social issues through their very own workbook. This program aligns with the PDHPE Curriculum, "Healthy, Safe and Active Lifestyles" and students from Years 2-6 will learn lots of lifelong lessons from this program.

During Kezzie's visit students learnt about the 6 factors to a healthy lifestyle.

Did you know...

  • Water is the best way to quench your thirst. Drink 6-8 glasses (2 litres) of water per day.
  • Regular physical activity of at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous activity every day is important for healthy growth, development and wellbeing of kids and teenagers.
  • Eating at least 5 serves of fruits and vegetables each day is important to supply nutrients and vitamins to the body.
  • Healthy snacks helps kids and teenagers meet their daily nutritional needs. Snacks based on fruit and vegetables, reduced fat, dairy products and whole grains are the healthy choices.
  • A good night sleep of at least 11 hours for children is important to protect us from infections, as sleep helps keep our immune system in shape.
  • Kids and teenagers should spend no more than 2 hours per day on small screen entertainment. Break up long periods of screen time with physical activity.
